Basic CERT Training Class

The Community Emergency Response Team training is designed for people who want to know how to be better prepared to handle a disaster. The training will orient the participant to the Emergency Services in New Canaan, and outline the various actions an individual can take when emergency services resources are overwhelmed during a disaster. Upon completion of the course, participants may choose to become a member of the local CERT team.

The Basic Training course covers:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Incident Command, Team Organization
  • Disaster Psychology
  • Terrorism 
  • Sheltering in Place
  • Fire Suppression
  • Light Search and Rescue

The CERT Basic Training course is a nationally standardized course developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 

To sign up for Basic Training, please download the Registration Form and the Hold Harmless Form.  Once completed, email them to [email protected].

Participation in all sessions is expected.  There may be the possibility to allow for make-ups, and all conflicts should be discussed with the instructor.

VOLUNTEER

We are always looking for new CERT volunteers! The Community Emergency Response Team training session is designed for volunteers who wish to become involved in CERT in the New Canaan community.
